Propylene glycol is miscible with water, ethanol and many organic solvents. Normally it is colorless and viscous, the liquid is almost odorless and smells a little sweet.
Propylene glycol can be used as a raw material for non-absorbent polyester resins, and can also be used together with glycerin or sorbitol as a humectant in cosmetics, toothpastes and soaps.
It is used as conditioner and hair conditioner in hair dyes, antifreeze, cellophane, plasticizer and pharmaceutical industry.
